The last round of the Danish Championship took place on Sunday, August 27th at last years’ Euros track in Glostrup, right outside of Copenhagen. The weather was grey and cloudy, but dry in the morning; the weather forecast wasn’t very promising, though.

The first round of qualifying was on a cold and moist track, but during the day the track got better, and of course also faster and faster. After the 3 rounds it was very close in the A final.

Top 5 were:
1. Steen Graversen
2. Soren Eskildsen
3. Pelle Martin
4. Soren Boy Holst X-Ray T2
5. Johan Eskildsen

After qualifying it started to rain. And rain. And rain some more. Not just a drops of rain but buckets of water were falling from the skies. People who attended the Euros last year experienced a lot of water on this track, but that was nothing compared to this race.

The first round of the finals was cancelled while the club made big holes outside the track to help the water run off from the track surface. At the end of the straight there was a small lake of water approximately 15cm deep. It didn’t stop raining, but the new holes really helped, so it was decided to continue the race.

In the first (2nd) final it was S?ren Boy Holst who took the lead, driving very smoothly around the track with a super-balanced T2. The rest of the field had a lot of battles, but at the end of the final Pelle Martin started to close in on S?ren, and a super-close battle was raced ’til the finish line. The spectators loved it… very close and fair racing with only a few meters between the two cars. Soren kept calm and took the win for this final.

For the second (3rd) final, the track was not as wet as in the first, making the cars understeer a lot. Again there were a lot of close battles all the way through the final, this time with Steen Graversen as the winner and Soren Boy Holst in 2nd, securing him the overall win of the race.

This result gave Soren the overall second place in the Danish Touring Car Championships 2006, only 3 points behind the winner!
